Den 51 upplagan av World Press Photo vanns av Tim Hetherington som på en reportageresa för Vanity Fair tog bilden av en vilande brittisk soldat i Afghanistan.

– Den här bilden visar en mans utmattning – och en nations utmattning.

Så löd juryordföranden Gary Knights ord om vinnarbilden i årets upplaga av World Press Photo. Tävlingen avgjordes i dag när juryn gått igenom drygt 5 000 inskickade bilder. Ingen av vinnarna var svensk men Pieter Ten Hoopen som jobbat i Sverige i flera år vann i kategorin vardagsbilder under holländsk flagg.

Hans bild visar en mopedförare som sladdar på en öde landsväg.
